International Workshop on Indigenous Knowledge The planning for the International Workshop on Indigenous Knowledge, under the auspices of the World Bank and the Global Research Alliance(GRA) is well under way and the invited guests will be arriving on the 8th of February for three days of intensive deliberations on key issues. The Workshop also enjoys the support of the South African Department of Science and Technology. Participants to the workshop will come from Finland, Germany, Holland, Malaysia, India, Australia, South Africa, the Dominican Republic, West and East Africa and South America, and represent both the scientific and traditional healing communities. Leading experts from the CSIR and the World Bank will also take part in the Workshop. The workshop will explore the possibility of a partnership between the World Bank, the GRA and traditional practitioners and will develop an approach for the validation of indigenous knowledge. The outcomes from the workshop will be reported to the Principals of the GRA at their 4 th meeting scheduled to be held in Australia at the end of February and also to a Conference on these issues which is being organised by the World Bank at the end of the year.
