Dr Ramesh Mashelkar takes up the reins as GRA President

The Global Research Alliance is proud to announce that Dr Ramesh Mashelkar, formerly the Director General of the CSIR in India, has taken up office as the first president of the Alliance.

In his role as President Dr Mashelkar will, in association with the existing GRA structures, be responsible for the formulation of strategy and implementation, revenue generation, member participation and building the value proposition of the Alliance. Dr Mashelkar’s responsibilities will also include international positioning and relationship building.

Dr Mashelkar has played a critical role in shaping India’s S&T policies in post-liberalised India, has served on the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and also on the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet and is the recipient of over 40 awards and medals.

Dr Mashelkar has received extensive international recognition and is a Fellow of the Royal Society (UK), a Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Science (USA), a Foreign Fellow of the US National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) and a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science (USA). Twenty-five universities have honoured him with honorary doctorates, including the Universities of London, Salford, Pretoria, Wisconsin and Delhi.

Dr Mashelkar has been closely involved with the GRA since its inception and will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the Alliance through his standing in the global S&T community, his focus, experience and passion.
